This original illustration from the "Animals" series was commissioned by the Dictionary of Universal Natural History by the French botanist and geologist Charles Henry Dessalines d'Orbigny, who lived from 1806-1876. The attached graphic shows the molluscs (Bulimus mendorendis), (Bulimus pudicus), (Bulimus exesus), (Bulimus signatus), (Bulimus pantagruelinus), (Pupa chrysalis).
