Poster with a reproduction of a patent for a coffee machine. In the 19th century, coffee consumption continued to increase and the coffee business flourished for good. However, a big problem was the brewing process itself, which was far too long. Despite many attempts over the centuries to design a coffee production device that would significantly shorten this process, it was only possible in 1885 by Angelo Moriondo. He patented the first coffee machine using both steam and water to brew it. The purpose of the present patent is to provide a simple, economical and reliable coffee machine. It is designed to deliver water from the water tank through the boiler and deliver hot water to the coffee brewing basket without the use of non-return valves or pressure switches throughout the system. In addition, the boiler and the water flowing from the tank to the coffee brewing basket are fully controlled by a thermostat conductively coupled to the outside of the boiler. Patent No. US3869968 A was published in 1975 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
