Poster with a reproduction of the coffee percolator patent by Horace Wilson. Percolator is a prototype of a modern coffee machine. Its operation is based on the principle of percolation, i.e. passing a stream of hot water through the coffee layer, thanks to which the most valuable ingredients are extracted from its ground beans. The device required a heat source located directly under the bottom water tank. After reaching the appropriate temperature, the water in the form of steam was forced through the ground coffee layer placed in the upper part of the device and accumulated in its central part as a ready drink. present patent relates to improvements in the production and clarification of coffee and consists of a separable percolator provided with a metal hoop, a handle and a sachet supporting the percolator. The metal rim inflates the percolator, allowing water to circulate between the coffee grounds as it is brewed. Patent No. US530149 A was published in 1894 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
