Poster with a reproduction of the Lamborghini Murciélago patent. In 1998, Lamborghini was sold to the Audi concern, belonging to the Volkswagen group. Murciélago was the first model of the brand produced after the takeover by the German concern. Responsible for the design was Luc Donckerwolke, Lamborghini Project Leader from 1998 to 2005, who previously worked on the Skoda Octavia iFabia, as well as the Audi A4 Avant and R8 Le Mans Racer. car was named after a bull that survived the famous bullfight in 1879, despite suffering many wounds, and a bullfighter spared his life. The very structure of the vehicle was made of steel and carbon fiber, which ensured stiffness and allowed to reduce its weight. The car had such technical innovations as the suspension, the characteristics of which could be adjusted by the driver, systems to prevent body tilt during starting and braking, and TCS traction control. 4,099 examples of the model were produced. Patent No. US470435 S was issued in 2003 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
