poster from the series "Medicinal plants" showing Plantago lanceolataor plantain. It is widely used in medicine. Plantain leaves is mainly used as an expectorant and relaxant of smooth muscles of the upper respiratory tract in herbal mixtures and syrups, moreover, in inflammation of the mouth and larynx - mucus and tannins are of therapeutic importance here, which reduce the congestion of the mucous membranes and excessive vascular permeability hair follicles. Bacteriostatic properties are demonstrated by fresh raw material, also in the form of juice (Succus Plantaginis lanceolatae). The active substance in this case is aukuboside, which, under the influence of β-glucosidase contained in the raw material, releases aucubigenin aglycone with bacteriostatic properties. In water infusions, this transformation does not take place due to enzyme inactivation, therefore they do not show antibacterial activity. Decoctions are also somewhat astringent and weakly diuretic. Studies have shown that water extracts from plantain leaves, when used orally, stimulate the production of interferon and antiviral antibodies, ie substances that protect the human body against viral invasion. Juice from fresh plantain leaves or decoction of dried leaves accelerate wound healing and epidermis regeneration. This poster, as well as the entire series, was painted especially for us. After painting, the poster is digitally scanned and then printed on our highest quality papers.
