This original illustration from the "Animals" series was commissioned by the Dictionary of Universal Natural History by the French botanist and geologist Charles Henry Dessalines d'Orbigny, who lived from 1806-1876.
The attached graphic shows the Rufous-collared kingfisher (Actenoides concretus), is a species of bird in the family Alcedinidae. It is found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand, and Red-tailed comet (Ornismya Sapho), is a medium-sized hummingbird.
