The painting was painted by Gustav Klimt (1862-1916), an Austrian painter and printmaker. uential artist of Viennese Modernism. Klimt's work departs significantly from the academic canons instilled in him during his years of study. Together with other Viennese artists, he founded the Association of Austrian Artists in 1897, with which he was associated until 1905. Gustav Klimt's intention was to create works free of all styles and conventions imposed by the artists of the time. One of the artist's most recognisable works is the portrait of Adela Bloch-Bauer I.
The attached print shows "The Kiss" is a painting from 1907. The oil painting by Gustav Klimt, classified as part of the Viennese Art Nouveau movement, was created between 1907 and 1908, during what is described as Klimt's "golden period." As early as 1908 it was purchased by the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere in Vienna and is still in its collection today. The work has lived to see many forms of reproduction.
The upper part shows a woman's face fainting with rapture, her naked arm protruding from a variegated tight dress, and a tiny hand resting on a man's neck. A woman kneeling on a flowery ground is embraced by a stout brunet. Only the profile of his face is visible. With his hands, he holds his partner's head to place a kiss on her cheek.
