Poster with a reproduction of the patent for the world's first motor-powered aircraft by Orville and Wilbur Wright. The Wright brothers are considered pioneers of aviation. They grew up in Ohio where they ran the Wright Cycle Company bicycle factory and workshop. They devoted all their free time to the subject of building a flying machine. Initially, they built gliders. In 1900, in order to continue their flight experiments, they moved to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, known for its strong, steady winds. In 1903, they were ready to show the world their first airplane powered by an internal combustion engine. They called him the Wright Flyer. The first successful flight took place on December 17, 1903, at a wind speed of 10-12 m / s. The distance covered by the plane was only 36.5 meters. The plane was powered by a 12 HP 4-cylinder internal combustion engine. The wingspan was 12.3 m. The Flyer I weighed 274 kg, and the maximum take-off weight was 338 kg. patent relates to a flying mechanism whose weight is sustained by the reactions generated when the airplane travels through the air with a slight incidence angle, by a mechanical force, or by the use of gravity. Patent No. US821393 A was issued in 1906 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
