Fortified with 19 watchtowers, it is the best-preserved section of the Great Wall. The Badaling section of the Great Wall is located at an altitude of over 1,000 meters above sea level and guards the Juyongguan Pass. It was built during the Ming Dynasty, around 1505. It was extensively restored in the 20th century, and in 1957, it was the first section to be opened to tourists. Currently, over 100 million people visit it annually.
