"Dinosaurs for Kids" posters were created to promote knowledge about dinosaurs among children by presenting various dinosaur species in an engaging and entertaining way.
This poster depicts a Brachiosaurus, a genus of sauropod dinosaurs belonging to the Brachiosaurid family (Brachiosauridae), with a "giraffe-like" neck and physique. These are true giants, reaching up to 27 meters in length and over 12-16 meters in height. Brachiosaurus, among the largest land animals of all time, weighed between 30 and 60 tons. Their favorite habitats were North America and Africa. Dinosaurs of this group were herd animals, which helped them defend themselves against predatory relatives.
The forelimbs of a Brachiosaurus were significantly longer than the hind limbs. Its neck was 10 meters long, allowing the dinosaur to consume tall plant shoots. It swallowed its food whole without chewing. Scientists suspect that food was ground up in its stomach by stones called gastroliths. Brachiosaurus must have eaten over 180 kilograms of leaves and other plant parts daily, likely foraging almost continuously from dawn to dusk.
This poster, like the entire series, was commissioned by artist Martyna Nejman.
