Velociraptor - poster

"Dinosaurs for Kids" posters were created to promote dinosaur knowledge among children by presenting different dinosaur species in an engaging and entertaining way.

This poster depicts Velociraptor - a genus of small theropod dinosaurs from the Dromaeosauridae family. It was a bipedal predator that inhabited what is now Mongolia during the late Cretaceous Period, 83 to 70 million years ago.

Velociraptor was not a large dinosaur. It reached only 100 cm in height, about 170 cm in length, and weighed 20 kg. Despite its small size, it was a formidable hunter. The Velociraptor's skull was armed with sharp teeth. The Velociraptor's hand was long and armed with three sharp claws. In terms of flexibility, the velociraptor's hand resembled that of its close relatives, birds. Velociraptor's feet were three-toed. Each foot bore a sickle-shaped claw, approximately 12 cm long. This was most likely used to deliver a killing blow to its prey. Velociraptor's tail had a distinctive structure. Some of the projections and struts of the caudal vertebrae were remarkably elongated, providing balance during fast running, especially during sharp turns. Numerous skeletal features connect dromaeosaurs to birds, and like older dromaeosaurs such as Sinornithosaurus and Microraptor, it had feathers.
