This poster from the "Red Data Book of Animals" series depicts the gray wolf (Canis lupus) – a species of predatory mammal from the canid family, inhabiting forests, plains, wetlands, and mountains of Eurasia and North America. In 2018, official statistics indicated that the wolf population in Poland numbered approximately 1,500 individuals, while foresters estimated that there could be as many as 2,500. It is listed in the Polish Red Data Book of Animals and is strictly protected.
The Polish Red Data Book of Animals is a register of endangered animal species in Poland. It contains a list of endangered animal species with detailed descriptions and distribution maps. It also determines the level of threat to individual species, their rarity, and the implemented and proposed protection measures. With this mini series, we want to showcase the beautiful animal species in Poland that are strictly protected.
This poster, like the entire series, was created especially for us by artist Anna Oracz.
