Magura National Park

Magura National Park primarily protects the transitional area between the Western and Eastern Carpathians, unique in the Carpathians. The park encompasses the central, representative part of the Low Beskids. Over 90% of the park's area is covered by forests. Two vegetation zones can be distinguished within the park: foothills and lower montane forest. The foothill forest, covering approximately 43% of the park's area and reaching 530 m above sea level, consists mainly of artificial stands, dominated by pine. Numerous meadows and pastures, as well as peat bogs, also exist here. The lower montane forest, covering approximately 57% of the park's area and reaching from 530 m above sea level upwards, consists mainly of natural beech forests with an admixture of fir trees and sycamore maple trees, rare in the Carpathians. The park's logo features the lesser spotted eagle, which is a strictly protected species in Poland. Over 20 pairs nest in Magura National Park, making it one of the highest nesting densities in Poland.
