In the 19th century, coffee consumption continued to grow, and the coffee-making business flourished. However, a significant problem was the brewing process itself, which was far too long. Despite numerous attempts over the centuries to construct a coffee-making device that would significantly shorten this process, it was not until 1885 that Angelo Moriondo succeeded. He patented the first coffee machine using both steam and water to brew.
The aim of the presented patent is to provide a simple, economical, and reliable coffee machine. It is designed to draw water from a water tank through a boiler and deliver hot water to the coffee-making basket without the use of check valves or pressure switches throughout the system. Additionally, the boiler and the water flowing from the reservoir to the coffee brewing basket are completely controlled by a thermostat conductively coupled to the exterior of the boiler.
