Jupiter - Planets of the Solar System v2 - poster

Posters from the "Astronomy" series depict all eight planets of the Solar System and five dwarf planets.

They were commissioned by Krakow artist Rafał Helak as a second series, showing the same planets from a different, original perspective.

This poster depicts Jupiter. Called the Great Red Spot, it is composed of hydrogen and helium. Jupiter is the first of the four large planets – gas giants – and the largest planet in the Solar System. It is a gaseous sphere, although it likely has a core of molten rock. Jupiter bulges at the equator and flattens at the poles due to its high spin. Winds on Jupiter reach speeds of up to 500 km/h. The rapid rotation and heat from the planet's interior create strong winds, dividing the atmosphere into latitudinal belts of descending or rising gases.

A cyclone with a diameter twice that of Earth is also visible on Jupiter's disk.
