This poster from the "Folk Costumes" series depicts Polish folk costumes from various ethnographic groups. We wanted to showcase part of our native tradition and Polish folklore in a different, playful, and modern way. Therefore, we decided to present folk costumes in the form of a deck of cards. One card represents a woman and a man in traditional costume from a given ethnographic group, while the other, on the back, showcases the main design motifs from a given region.
This poster depicts the Krakow pattern, or more specifically, the Western Krakowiaks, characteristic of the Krakowiaks ethnographic group living in Lesser Poland. The Krakow pattern and costume are considered national costumes, very often worn and used today.
This poster, like the entire series, was commissioned by Poznań artist Kasia Nowakowska.
